High-resolution respirometry

Hansatech Instruments respirometers are ideal choices for high-resolution, high sensitivity, cost-effective analysis of mitochondrial function, bioenergetics and other respirometry applications. Real-time oxygen flux measurements can be combined with simultaneous data from ion-selective electrodes (ISEs) to provide measurements of pH, calcium (Ca2+) or potassium (K+) activity, or membrane potential (TPP+).

Key features

Key features of the Hansatech instruments respirometry systems include:

  • High-resolution for detection of small changes in oxygen consumption.
  • Sealed sample chamber for liquid samples between 0.2 – 2.5ml.
  • Integral or external sample temperature control.
  • High-sensitivity Clark-type dissolved oxygen electrode.
  • Real-time display of oxygen flux data.
  • Simultaneous logging of pH data from a third-party pH electrode allowing analysis of extracellular acidification rates (ECAR) in addition to oxygen consumption rates (OCR).
  • Analysis of oxygen flux alongside Ca2+, K+, TPP+ activity using ion-selective electrodes (ISEs).
  • Easy additions of substrates/inhibitors/uncouplers to the sample.
  • Data from up to 8 individual systems acquired simultaneously in real-time from a single Windows PC.
